Actress Lindsay Lohan found herself in legal trouble once again, as she was arrested in New York City after allegedly assaulting a woman during an altercation at a nightclub in Manhattan’s Chelsea section.
The star known for her roles in “Mean Girls” and “Freaky Friday” was taken into custody at 4 a.m. and charged with third-degree assault. She left the police precinct almost four hours later, concealing herself with a black jacket. Lohan was dressed in leggings, a green mini dress, and high-heels, and departed in a black SUV accompanied by a driver, another woman, and a man who was seen coming in and out of the precinct.
The altercation occurred at Club Avenue, where Lohan reportedly got into an argument with another woman, ultimately striking her in the face with her hand. Fortunately, the victim did not require medical attention.
Lohan’s publicist did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

This arrest is just the latest in a series of legal encounters Lohan has had in New York City. She was previously involved in an NYPD investigation in September when she accused a man of assaulting her in a hotel, though charges against the man were later dropped. In the same month, she was accused of hitting a man with her car outside another Manhattan nightclub, but prosecutors chose not to pursue charges.
In October, police were called to her childhood home on Long Island following reports of a dispute between her and her mother, but no criminality was found.
Lohan was also in a car accident in California over the summer, which resulted in her and an assistant being hospitalized, although no one suffered serious injuries. The accident is still under investigation.
In May, she was cleared of allegations that she had struck a Hollywood nightclub manager with her car.
Notably, Lohan is currently on informal probation for an incident in which she took a necklace from a jewelry store without permission last year. Although she does not have to report to a judge or probation officer, any subsequent arrests could result in jail time.
Despite her legal troubles, Lohan has continued to pursue her acting career, with her latest film, “Liz & Dick,” premiering on Lifetime. She also recently completed filming “The Canyons,” an independent movie written by Bret Easton Ellis, the author of “Less Than Zero” and “American Psycho.”
