Natalie Portman confirmed her separation and divorce from Benjamin Millepied, whom she has been with for more than a decade.
After more than a decade together, Natalie Portman announced her separation and divorce from choreographer Benjamin Millepied. For months it has been said that they tried to rekindle the romance and give themselves a new chance, but the infidelities that affected the couple led to the worst outcome.
The news was revealed by US Weekly, which reported that the relationship between Natalie Portman and her husband has come to an end. According to reports, Benjamin Millepied committed repeated infidelities with a woman named Camille Éttiene, a young 25-year-old French activist.
“After news of their affair became public, they have been trying to resolve the problems in their marriage, but are currently separated,” the publication notes.
Benjamin Millepied’s infidelity came to light in June, although the truth is that the meetings with the young woman in her office would have taken place in March. He remained secretive trying to remedy the situation, but there was no turning back and the couple ended up distancing themselves.
At that time, a source assured that the star believed that this infidelity was a simple slip, which is why she tried to mend her bond with her husband. “She believes Benjamin’s affair was a brief, trivial mistake that means nothing to him,” she explained.
In the same way, they assured that the rumors had “humiliated” Natalie Portman and that despite this she was willing to rebuild her trust in her partner for the well-being of her children – Aleph, 12 years old, and Amalia, 6.
“Right now, they are talking and collaborating for the well-being of their children,” she explained, adding that Benjamin Millepied “regretted” her actions. But, ultimately, the attempts did not come to fruition and the separation was inevitable.
Natalie Portman and her now ex-husband crossed paths for the first time in 2009 during the filming of Black Swan, directed by Darren Aronofsky. The film featured Benjamin Millepied as choreographer, and it was during this time that the ties between them emerged. After a decade together, the story seems to have come to an end.
